Palma de Mallorca, known amongst Mallorcans
as 'Ciutat', is the capital of the largest Balearic
island, Mallorca (or Majorca). It is important not to
confuse the name of the capital with that of the island,
as this is something that does not go down too well
with the inhabitants of the isle's other towns.
Mallorca's wonderful climate, beautiful landscapes
as well as its cosmopolitan ambience make it a privileged
holiday resort, with a cultural richness comparable
to that of many European capitals. The Auditiorio de
Palma, for instance, ranks among Europe's top concert
halls. In Mallorca, you will find relaxation, inspiration,
culture and entertainment.

Most people know that Mallorca is the most popular tourist
destination in Europe. It is also arguably the most beautiful
island in the Mediterranean, largely because of the stunning
variety of its scenery, the warm hospitality of the islanders
and the richness of its food and drink. There are two
main resorts for people who are looking for only sun,
sand and nightclubs, and then there is the rest of the
island-so carefully protected against over-development
by the proud Mallorcans that stars like Michael Douglas
and Claudia Schiffer choose to holiday here. |
Visitors today can benefit from the same inspiring
beauty and tranquillity that so impressed the composer
Chopin, the poet Robert Graves and others before and
after them.
A drive from one side of the island to the other can
take less than two hours, but in that time the visitor
can stop to gaze out towards Africa from awe inspiring
rugged cliff tops, cross the spectacular Tramuntana
mountain range, or leave the car to hike to pristine
sandy beaches only accessible by foot.

The Paseo Maritimo mixes enthusiasts
of the sea with tourists who stay at any of the area
hotels and enjoys one of the best views in the city.
Around here there are plenty of cafes, rental agencies,
restaurants and entertainment stops, in particular Palma's
most important nightclubs: Tito's, and Pachà.

| Our School has recently moved into a large, elegant
building in the very centre of the old city, on the
Plaza de Cort, immediately opposite the city hall. The
Plaza de Cort is one of the city's oldest, busiest and
most attractive squares. Apart from the elegance and
grandeur of its buildings, the square also contains
an extraordinarily beautiful olive tree, which is said
to be several centuries old. Quality Courses Palma occupies
one of the most prestigious buildings on the square.
The school has its own street level entrance and reception
from where students
can take a lift or the stairs up to the classrooms.
The school occupies all 4 floors of the building and
has 20 air-conditioned classrooms, as well as a number
of offices and recreational areas, including a computer
lab which students are able to use either before or
after class.
All teachers use a variety of methods to improve all
aspects of the students'
Spanish in a stimulating and communicative environment.
